This is a brief study titled “Neon on King” of the beautiful neon sign art on King St in Charleston, South Carolina. The warmth and nostalgia that they exuded captured my interest. It was an interesting feeling, knowing that generations prior, people looked up at the same signs, enticed by their colors the same way I was. The way the light bled out into the night around it in a blurred, soft way, almost like watercolors, gave it an organic feel in juxtaposition to its commerciality. The final photo is my favorite of the bunch, as it reminds me of my favorite scene in the classic Hitchcock movie, Vertigo.
